Zovirax Suspension is used to treat viral infections. It plays a vital role in treating cold sores (an inflamed blister in or near the mouth, caused by infection with the herpes simplex virus), genital herpes (a common sexually transmitted infection marked by genital pain and sores), and herpes zoster (a viral infection that causes a painful rash). In addition to this, it is also used to treat chickenpox. Zovirax Suspension does not cure herpes but does not allow the infection to spread and treat its symptoms.
Zovirax Suspension contains Aciclovir, which is an antiviral medication. Zovirax Suspension prevents the multiplication of viruses in human cells by acting on their DNA, resulting in decreased viral overload.
Zovirax Suspension is taken with or without food in a dose and duration as advised by the doctor. The dose you are given will depend on your condition. In some cases, you may experience headaches, feeling dizzy, feeling or being sick (nausea or vomiting), diarrhoea, rash, and skin sensitivity to sunlight. Most of these side effects of Zovirax Suspension are temporary, do not require medical attention, and gradually resolve over time. However, if the side effects are persistent, reach out to your doctor.
Take Zovirax Suspension only if the doctor prescribes you. Never encourage self-medication or suggest your medicine to someone else. Do not take Zovirax Suspension if you are allergic to Zovirax Suspension, aciclovir, or any of its ingredients. Check with your doctor if you're pregnant, currently breastfeeding, or taking any other prescribed or non-prescribed medicines. Use protection while having sexual intercourse to avoid the transfer of genital herpes (a sexually transmitted disease) to your partner. If you have a weak immune system, please inform your doctor before taking Zovirax Suspension as a dose adjustment may be required.
How to take Zovirax Suspension : Before you take Zovirax Suspension : Before you take Zovirax Suspension, tell your doctor if you have ever had an allergic reaction to Zovirax Suspension, aciclovir, or any of the ingredients in Zovirax Suspension. If you have, it is important to tell your doctor about your previous allergic reactions, to ensure that you are not allergic to any medicine, to ensure your doctor does not notice any symptoms, and to check with your doctor if you are taking any other medicines, including medicine bought with some insurance. Do not take Zovirax Suspension if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. It is important to avoid alcohol, spicy, strong-smelling, alcohol, or Euro-medications during taking Zovirax Suspension. () Avoid prolonged treatment with Zovirax Suspension as the illness and death of the individual(s) will occur. During treatment with Zovirax Suspension, adverse effects are unlikely to occur. However, please inform your doctor if you experience any symptoms including dizziness, lightheadedness, stomach pain, a skin sensitivity to sunlight, blurred vision, or sensitivity to heat during treatment. If you experience any of these, stop taking Zovirax Suspension and seek medical attention immediately. (Skin reactions, including erythema aze, erythema maximum, Stevens-Johnson syndrome, exfoliative dermatitis, and contact dermatitis, are rare.) () Avoid contact with external, internal, heat, or medication (such as contact lenses, aerosols, pastas, or drinks) and alcohol during treatment with Zovirax Suspension. () Avoid consuming too much alcohol during treatment with Zovirax Suspension, as the alcohol may cause unpleasant side effects such as heartburn and stinging, which may decrease the effectiveness of treatment and increase the risk of further infections. () If you experience symptoms of dehydration, please advise your doctor. Alcohol and Euro-medication are similar, so it is advisable to avoid alcohol and Euro-medication during treatment with Zovirax Suspension. The most commonly reported side effects of zovirax include drowsiness, dry mouth, fatigue, headache, and rash. It can also cause muscle aches, joint pain, and headaches. If you experience any of these symptoms, contact your doctor straight away.
Before taking zovirax, tell your doctor if you have liver disease, kidney disease, or asthma.
Some people take zovirax for herpes labialis. Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or plan to become pregnant. Zovirax can pass into breast milk. Zovirax tablets are not recommended for use in children under the age of 8.
Tell your doctor if you have ever had a skin reaction after applying a small amount of cream.
If you have, or have ever had, a skin rash, apply a mild soap to the area around your skin. If you have ever had an allergic reaction after applying a patch of cream, apply a small amount of cream to the area. If you have had an allergic reaction after applying a gel, apply a small amount of gel to the area.
Do not stop taking zovirax, even if you feel well, unless your doctor tells you to do so. You may need to take this medication for more than 2 weeks after the first dose. You can take this medication with or without food.
If you are taking a medicine called foscarnet, you may have a higher chance of experiencing some side effects. These side effects may be more common if you are taking foscarnet or if you have had an allergic reaction after using the medicine.
If you are taking foscarnet, it may decrease the amount of zovirax that you take. The amount of zovirax that you take should decrease as your body gets used to taking this medicine. It is not known if zovirax passes into breast milk. If you are breast-feeding, you should not stop taking ZOVIRAX while you are breast-feeding. Your baby could develop a condition called zoster when taken during the first 6 months of pregnancy.

If you have had an allergic reaction to valacyclovir or acyclovir and you are taking this medicine, tell your doctor. The symptoms of a reaction may include:
You may feel faint or light-headed, have difficulty breathing, or have swelling in your face or throat. It is not possible to determine if these effects occur.
If you have not had these symptoms after taking ZOVIRAX, you should immediately contact your doctor.
If you are taking a medicine called valacyclovir, take the medicine by mouth at the same time each day to reduce the risk of getting zoster.
This medicine may not work as well if you take it with a heavy or high-fat meal. You should avoid taking ZOVIRAX with a high-fat meal. You should take this medicine with a high-fat meal for 24 hours after you take it.
